SUMMARY:Communication in the Bedroom: Asking for What You Want
DESCRIPTION:This class will be held online via Zoom — you’ll receive an email with access information prior to the event. While classes are LIVE in nature and by default not recorded\, some educators have chosen to offer recordings of their classes to pre-registered attendees; please inquire for specifics of this event. Registration deadline: 2:30 p.m. PST on the day of class. No day-of cancellations. \n\n\n\nKnowing what you want isn’t as easy as it sounds\, and asking for it can be even trickier. Honesty puts us in a vulnerable place\, opening us up to rejection or shame. People of all genders and sexualities have a lot of cultural baggage to work through\, from messages implying that wanting sex or pleasure is slutty (and that that’s a bad thing) to ubiquitous sex tips that make it sound like we’re supposed to read our partners’ minds. \n\n\n\nAll of this sets us up for failure\, and many people never take the chance to open a dialogue with their partner(s). But being able to talk about your wants and needs is the only way to get them met. \n\n\n\nIn this class Stella Harris will talk about styles of communication\, ways to put yourself and your partner at ease\, and specific examples of tools and phrases to try. We’ll discuss how to start the conversation and how to incorporate communication into dirty talk. Not sure what to ask for? We’ll talk about some common fantasies you might want to try. \n\n\n\nAs always\, there will be time for Q&A\, and all genders and orientations are welcome. \n\n\n\nStella Harris is a Certified Intimacy Educator and Sex Coach who uses a variety of tools to guide and empower her clients and she teaches everything from pleasure anatomy\, to communication skills\, to kink and BDSM. As a speaker\, Stella has appeared at conferences across the US and Canada\, as well as at numerous universities and across various broadcast media. Stella is the author of two books\, Tongue Tied: Untangling Communication in Sex\, Kink\, and Relationships and The Ultimate Guide to Threesomes. Learn more on her website or follow her on Instagram. \n\n\n\n\n\nWe’re offering 2 free class spots to folks with financial need; please fill out this form if you are interested. Two people will be chosen randomly and contacted at least 2 weeks prior to class to confirm.
