SUMMARY:Supporting Survivors: From Ally to Accomplice
DESCRIPTION:This class will be held online via Zoom — you’ll receive an email with access information prior to the event. While classes are LIVE in nature and by default not recorded\, some educators have chosen to offer recordings of their classes to pre-registered attendees; please inquire for specifics of this event. Registration deadline: 2:30 p.m. PST on the day of class. No day-of cancellations. \n\n\n\nLearn to be a better ally and support sexual assault survivors! Taught by Jimanekia Eborn\, this class is for survivors and their friends\, families\, and partners. Jimanekia is an assault survivor and sexuality educator devoted to supporting survivors\, as well as supporting and building better allies within the community. With her help\, by the end of this class\, you’ll learn how to go from an ally to an accomplice. You will learn how to show up for the survivors in your life in a way you may not have known was possible. \n\n\n\nWe will cover ally/accomplice definitions\, learn correct ways and wrong ways to support a survivor\, provide tools for navigating internal struggles when you are an ally\, and discover different ways to give and find support in the community. You will receive insight into what survivors may be going through\, and you will be given the opportunity to do some interactive work to try out your skills! *Please note this class is interactive and encourages participation to get the most from it! \n\n\n\nJimanekia Eborn has worked in mental health for the last 10 years\, which is where she saw the need for sexual education and sexual trauma support. This has led to her passion for assisting and supporting those that are sexual assault survivors and those without access to comprehensive sex education. Her compassion and passion for these populations have pushed her to continue building safe spaces for clientele\, sharing education\, and supporting their mental spaces. You can find her work at Traumaqueen.love. \n\n\n\nWe’re offering 2 free class spots to folks with financial need; please fill out this form if you are interested. Two people will be chosen randomly and contacted at least 2 weeks prior to class to confirm.
